The River at Siem Reap - Cambodia.

Prasat Kuk O Chrung and Prasat O Kaek Temples at Siem Reap.

Most visitors to Siem Reap go there to use the town as a base for visiting the Angkor sites and then maybe have a bit of a fling in the numerous bars during the evening. Siem Reap itself does not have very much in the way of buildings and sites to visit - although it certainly is pleasant to wander around the town and particularly take a stroll or bike ride along Siem Reap River. However there are two very nice temples (Prasats) quite close to the town which can be visited - perhaps stopping off on the way to one of the Angkor Temple sites.

Taking a look arround Prasat Kuk O Chrung - Siem Reap outskirts in Cambodia. (a Prasat is the Khmer name for "Temple")

This is a really nice temple which is situated alongside the Siem Reap River - and easily missed because it is not particularly easy to spot unless you know it is there!. On route to Chong Kneas (i.e. towards Tonle Sap Lake), as the road passes through the village look out for a bridge crossing the Siem Reap River - this leads to the Temple. This is a colourful temple complex with several large and impressive looking buildings. To the rear there are many small stupas and also a Temple Tank which has a seated golden Buddha in the middle. The temple is active and there are Monk's Quarters within the grounds. The whole complex is set in very well kept gardens containing shrubs and trees.

This is also well worth stopping off to look round for a short while. The temple is situated along Route 6 out of the town and is just before the turnoff to Kampong Phhluk and The Roluos Group. Containing several large buildings as well as Monk's Quarters, once again this is an active temple which is situated within nice gardens. In addition there is a medium size lake and also a lotus filled Temple Tank which is surrounded by colourful chedi and several tombs.
